Appointed by the Social Housing Foundation to conduct an investigation into an Institutional Stabilisation Grant for Housing Institutions requested by the National Housing Department.

Land and Housing Development Support Group

Ferrer Hayim is a member of the Land and Housing Development Support Group, a consortium of professionals who are involved in research, training, capacity building, technical and business consulting to housing development agencies, institutions, residential and commercial property companies, local, provincial and national government.

European Union – Support Programme for Social Housing

We were recently appointed by the South African Government and the European Union on behalf of the Support Programme for Social Housing (SPSH) to provide:

• effective operational management for Social Housing Institutions in South Africa including the writing of policy and best practice manuals, and the implementation of systems and procedures for operational management
• effective property development for Social Housing Institutions in South Africa including the writing of policy and best practice manuals, and the implementation of systems and procedures. One of the systems developed by Ferrer Hayim for SPSH, included a financial model to assess financial feasibility of social housing projects
• the development of an information communication technology (ICT) strategy for the social housing sector in South Africa

National Housing Finance Corporation

The firm was appointed by the Social Housing Foundation and National Housing Finance Corporation, together with the Johannesburg Housing Company to develop a financial model to help assess financial feasibility of various social housing projects.

Africon

Ferrer Hayim was included by Africon, a multi disciplinary consultancy providing professional services in the fields of engineering, infrastructure and management consulting, as the finance expert in their successful bid to the National Housing Finance Corporation for capacity building for the Job Summit Social Housing Institutions.

Legal Aid Board

The company assisted in the management of the Legal Aid Board’s national property portfolio, which included project management and cost control of tenant installations to over ninety Justice Centres located throughout South Africa.

Liberty Properties

Ferrer Hayim has consulted to Liberty Properties on the valuation of their retail portfolio of properties, together with potential acquisition opportunities. A model was developed by the

company to produce discounted cashflows and portfolio internal rates of return for property valuation.

De Leeuw Group

The company also developed a financial model for the De Leeuw Group, an international firm of Quantity Surveyors, for preparation of financial feasibilities of projects nationwide. Also developed a financial model for Rand Aid, a leading company in the provision of retirement accommodation, geared around the sale of life rights.

Gauteng Provincial Department of Housing

Completed a review of existing business practice, and developed a new business management plan for the Semag Housing Corporation on behalf of the Gauteng Provincial Department of Housing. The contract was extended to include implementing of the plan and capacitating new staff to run it. The business management plan included client education and relations, personnel, equipment and relations, information technology, marketing and allocations procedure, credit control and financial management, maintenance and repairs practice and procedure, and the enforcement of tenure. Together with the Land and Housing Development Support Group, Ferrer Hayim were appointed as Business Management Experts to develop a practical business and recovery plan for Semag Housing Corporation. 

National Housing Department

Investigation into an Institutional Stabilisation Grant for Housing Institutions. This was requested by the National Housing Department through the Social Housing Foundation. The project included various interviews and audits of social housing institutions throughout South Africa.
